Our Story

 

Julia & Paul VanDerWielen are high school sweethearts who've lived all over the United States & have settled in Vermont with Imogen the beagle at their side.  After Paul's 14-year career as an Architectural Engineer & Commercial Real Estate Appraiser, both Julia & Paul received their Le Grand Diplôme de Cuisine from Le Cordon Bleu & embarked on culinary careers.  Julia worked with Boston's Jody Adams at Rialto, and Restaurant Associates at Google; while Paul focused on Restaurant Associates at the Harvard Law School, and Lonza Biologics through the Simpson Corp.  In 2017, they moved to Dorset, Vermont and to The Marble West Inn.  They opened a restaurant & catering operation propelling the Inn to International recognition for wine, cuisine, service & destination weddings.  Soon, the Inn was on the map as a top culinary destination like no other in New England.  After three amazing years, a world pandemic closed the doors to the Inn, while opening new doors for Julia & Paul in Dorset.  Together they bring a global perspective to local ingredients, coupled with the experience of serving in some of the most demanding hospitality environments in the world.  Their clients are not just customers, they become collaborators, friends & family.  Welcome to Julia Paul Culinary.
